Auntie is an ant with the stride of someone carrying far more responsibility than her size suggests. Head forward, legs extended and body held low, she appears to be crossing the room on urgent business. The red shoes confirm that efficiency and good presentation need not be separate matters.Each Auntie is cast in marble resin with metal details, then released, trimmed and sanded by hand. Brown, coral, blue and black-and-white patterns are painted in layers across the long body, following the rounded abdomen and narrow legs. The face, antennae and shoes are completed carefully where the form becomes delicate. Every line is drawn freehand, so no two Aunties are identical.She belongs on a desk, hallway console, low shelf or beside a plant, where her full side profile can be seen. Auntie is small enough to move whenever the arrangement changes and purposeful enough to look as though the move was her idea. She is intended for indoor decoration. Place her where people pass often; she has somewhere to be and would prefer the route kept clear.
