Cat figurines – hand-painted works of art full of character by Tom's Drag

Tom’s Drag’s ever-changing collection is home to around twenty cats, none of which are alike: Matilda with her lion’s mane, Peter, Kitty, Catherine, Grace, Amy and many more. Most are less than 30 cm tall and find their place on a shelf, a chest of drawers or a windowsill – Samantha, in her largest version, is 145 cm tall and reaches chest height. They are eye-catchers, conversation starters and works of art that lend a room personality and character.

Each cat figurine begins as a sketch on paper. This is followed by the creation of a hand-carved prototype, which serves as the mould for every subsequent piece. Each animal is then cast from the prototype’s negative mould, sanded down and hand-painted layer by layer. Chequered patterns, ornaments, golden accents. As the brush is guided by a person rather than a machine, every piece turns out slightly different. That is precisely why every piece of art from Tom’s Drag is one of a kind.
