Apple Box Eden
Eden is a lidded box shaped like an apple, made for the small things that otherwise wander across a surface. Rings, keys, coins and private scraps of paper disappear beneath the removable top. She comes in two sizes, although neither has learned how to behave like discreet storage.The rounded body is cast and finished by hand, then painted in layers from the base to the curved lid. Flowing colour travels around the form, interrupted by black-and-white checks and smaller ornament drawn freehand. The pattern must meet across two separate parts without becoming rigid or printed, which gives every Eden its own small shifts and irregularities. No two are identical.Place her on a hallway console for keys, beside a bed for jewellery or on a desk for the objects that never earn a drawer. The larger version can hold a fuller collection; the smaller one works as a gift or a first Tom’s character for the home. Eden is intended for dry objects rather than food. Wipe her with a dry cloth, avoid solvents and do not soak the painted surface. The contents may remain private. The box itself has no such ambition.
