Dog Carl
Carl is a pug with a punk crest, pursed red lips and the expression of someone who has already heard the house rules. He comes in three heights — 28, 38 and 62 cm — and the attitude survives every change of scale. The smallest is cool. The largest has started making decisions on behalf of the room.Each Carl is cast in marble resin, released, trimmed and sanded by hand before the colour is built up in layers. Blue, green and yellow ornament runs across his compact body, meeting black-and-white details around the legs and clothing. The face, jewellery and upright black crest are completed carefully at the end. Every line is drawn freehand, so no two Carls are identical.The smaller sizes sit well on a shelf, desk or hallway console. The 62 cm Carl can hold a floor corner beside a chair or low cabinet without assistance. Keep his face and crest visible; that is where most of the disagreement appears to be happening. Carl is intended for indoor decoration. Place him where people pass often enough to notice the expression, but not so close that anyone mistakes it for a request for permission.
