Sideboard Malaga
Malaga is a two-door cabinet with a generous interior divided by a shelf. It stores the things a room needs and would rather not discuss, while its painted exterior does precisely the opposite. The low proportions make it practical beneath artwork or a mirror; the pattern ensures nobody mistakes it for background furniture.Every visible face is painted by hand. Layers of orange, yellow, blue and violet build across the doors, with scrolling forms and black-and-white details drawn freehand. The two fronts meet without becoming mirror images, giving each side its own rhythm while the dark frame holds the composition together. The surface is sealed for daily use, and because the pattern is laid out by hand, no two cabinets are identical.Malaga belongs in a dining room with glasses and table linen inside, a hallway that needs proper storage, or a living room beneath the objects collected over time. The top can hold a lamp, books or a tray without losing its character. Care for it with a dry cloth, avoid solvents and keep it away from direct midday sunlight. It does the sensible work of a cabinet. It simply refuses to look sensible while doing it.
