Alligator Leonard B.
Leonard B. is an alligator conductor in formal dress, baton ready and mouth open as though the orchestra has missed an entrance. He comes in 59 and 105 cm heights. The smaller version leads from a cabinet; the larger appears capable of dismissing the entire brass section. Each Leonard B. is formed in fibreglass and finished by hand. The dark tailcoat, striped trousers, red sash and curling ornament are built up in layers of colour, with black-and-white details drawn freehand across the long figure. His face, shoes, hands and conductor’s baton are completed carefully at the end. The brush changes the pattern subtly from one character to the next, so no two Leonard B. figures are identical. The 59 cm version works on a deep console, broad sideboard or low plinth. At 105 cm, Leonard B. belongs on the floor in an entrance, music room or living room where the full upright silhouette can be seen. Give the baton clear space and avoid surrounding him with objects of equal height. He is intended for indoor decoration. No orchestra is required, although he gives every indication that rehearsals have already begun.
