Lady Lydia
Lydia is one of the merry widows from the Characters Collection, where familiar social types are enlarged until stereotype becomes comedy. Her expression suggests the mourning period ended precisely when the better invitations began.Each figure is formed in fibreglass and finished by hand. Layered colour and freehand ornament define the costume and character, while the face and smaller details receive careful attention. Individual brushwork gives every piece slight variations.Place Lydia on the floor in an entrance or living room where her full character can be seen. She is intended for indoor decoration. Lydia works alone or with Martha and Ruth, although three widows together may know more than they disclose.

Six steps, many hands and one unmistakable character. From the first sketch to the final inspection, every figure is created with careful craftsmanship. Depending on its size, it is either cast in resin or handcrafted in fibreglass. Layer by layer, the colour is applied by hand. No two pieces are exactly alike — the artist’s hand always remains visible.
