Acrobat Marisol
Marisol sits with one leg folded beneath her, the other stretched behind, and a tealight held at arm’s length on a 7 cm metal dish. It is the posture of someone making a generous offer while remaining quite certain that nobody else should attempt the same movement. Each Marisol is cast in marble resin, released, trimmed and sanded by hand. Orange, green, blue and black-and-white sections are painted in layers across the long figure, with every curve and check drawn freehand. The pale face, dark gloves and metal dish are finished separately, preserving the clean edges that make the extended pose work. The brush shifts from one figure to the next, so no two Marisols are identical.Place her on a long sideboard, dining table or low shelf where the line from hand to outstretched foot remains visible. Use a tealight of the intended size, keep the flame clear of painted sections and never leave it unattended. Let wax cool before removing it, then use a dry cloth. Marisol is intended for indoor decoration. She provides the gesture and the light; the stable surface is your contribution.

Sketched, carved, cast, painted, gilded, finished — six steps and many pairs of hands before a character is done. Layer upon layer of vivid colour laid down by artisans who have spent years learning the brushwork. No two are ever exactly alike; the hand is always visible.
