Soleil balances on one leg and holds a tealight aloft with the other arm, as though ordinary standing had been considered and dismissed. She comes in 33 and 58 cm heights, and the smaller version carries exactly the same confidence as the taller one.Each Soleil is cast in marble resin, released, trimmed and sanded by hand. Layers of blue, red, green and orange rise along the narrow figure, while black-and-white details are drawn freehand around the limbs. The face, supporting foot and raised dish are finished carefully to preserve the long vertical line. Pattern and colour settle differently with every brush, so no two Soleils are identical.She belongs on a dining table, sideboard or low plinth where her full height can be seen. The 58 cm version can carry a floor-level display or broad console; the smaller one works well among books and collected objects. Use a tealight of the intended size, keep the flame clear of painted sections and never leave it unattended. Allow wax to cool before removing it, then clean with a dry cloth. Soleil is intended for indoor decoration and has no interest in blending into it.
