Acrobat Vivienne
Vivienne holds herself on one hand and two widely placed feet while a tealight dish rises from the centre of her back. The pose combines a bridge, a bow and a complete refusal to admit that any of this is difficult. She has arranged herself around the candle and expects the room to do the same. Each Vivienne is cast in marble resin, released, trimmed and sanded by hand. Orange, green, turquoise and black-and-white patterns are painted in layers across the arched form, following the long limbs without stencil or print. The face, hands, feet and raised dish are finished carefully at the narrow edges. Every line is drawn freehand, so no two Viviennes are identical.Place her on a sideboard, dining table or broad mantelpiece where the full bridge can be seen in profile. The low, wide figure works especially well between taller objects. Use a tealight of the intended size, keep the flame clear of painted sections and never leave it unattended. Let wax cool before removing it, then clean with a dry cloth. Vivienne is intended for indoor decoration. She supplies the acrobatics; a stable surface remains non-negotiable.
